MUSAC Swim Coaches Gain Valuable Insights at NSW State Conference

Our squad coaching team continues to invest in learning and development, with Thomas Rayner and Matthew Kearney recently attending the SWIM Coaches & Teachers NSW State Conference after being awarded a prestigious coaching scholarship. The conference brought together leading coaches and aquatic industry experts from across the state to share the latest insights in athlete development, performance and coaching.

Through a range of presentations, workshops and networking opportunities, Tom and Matt gained valuable knowledge on coaching methodologies, squad culture and creating positive training environments. The experience also allowed them to connect with other successful programs and exchange ideas that can benefit our swimmers.

Reflecting on the conference, Tom said, “It was a great opportunity to speak with and listen to some of NSW’s top coaches. The main takeaways for me were how each coach approaches team culture and building a competitive environment across their squad levels.”

Tom and Matt have returned inspired and eager to apply what they learned across our squad program. Their new ideas and insights will help strengthen the swimmer experience, enhance athlete development and continue building a positive, high-performing culture for the squad program and swimming club.

No Towel, No Train Reminder

A friendly reminder that our No Towel, No Train policy remains in place across the Health Club.

Please remember to bring a towel with you each time you train and use it on equipment throughout your workout. This helps us keep the Health Club clean, hygienic and comfortable for everyone.

Thank you to all our members for continuing to support the policy and our team.

Macquarie Gymnastics Celebrates Successful Team Gym Debut

Our Team Gym Beginner team, Macquarie Embers, and Intermediate team, Macquarie Firebirds, competed in their very first competition at SGAC (Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre) on Sunday, 26 July!

Our incredible teams walked away with the following results:

  • Tumbling - Silver
  • Overall - Silver

Macquarie Firebirds:

This is an incredible achievement and a true reflection of the dedication and hard work shown at training.

We are so proud of our gymnasts, as well as their coaches, Lily and Sophie, who have poured so much time and effort into preparing the teams.

We can’t wait to see what they achieve at their next competition!

July Member of the Month

A big shoutout to our July Member of the Month, Leo!

Leo has demonstrated outstanding consistency and commitment throughout the month. Despite working full-time in accounting and preparing for a career transition into Occupational Therapy, he has made his health and wellbeing a priority by showing up to training regularly. His biggest achievement has been building the discipline to train consistently, even on days when motivation was low, leading to noticeable improvements in his fitness, endurance, and confidence.

Leo is focused on becoming stronger, healthier, and more resilient, believing that small, consistent actions create lasting results. Along the way, he has learned to balance work, study preparation, and training while recognizing the positive impact exercise has on his mental wellbeing.

Beyond his own progress, Leo is a valued member of the MAC40 community. He brings a positive attitude to every session, encourages those around him, and helps create a welcoming and supportive environment. His consistency and willingness to motivate others embody the spirit of the community, making him a deserving Member of the Month.

Looking ahead, Leo aims to continue improving his strength, endurance, and movement technique while building the confidence and resilience that training has helped him develop.
