Temporary Centre Closure for Essential Works
Please be aware that MUSAC will temporarily close due to a scheduled campus power shutdown required for essential infrastructure upgrades.
Closure Details
- Centre closes: 9:00pm Thursday 21 May
- Centre reopens, including 25m and 50m pools: 9:00am Friday 22 May
These works form part of Macquarie University’s broader campus electrification and sustainability program, supporting upgrades that will transition the centre away from gas and onto more energy-efficient electric systems.
The temporary closure also allows time for pool systems and temperatures to return to normal operating conditions once power is restored.
We sincerely thank members for their understanding while these important long-term improvements are carried out.
If you have any questions, please speak with our team at reception or contact us on 02 9850 7636.
King’s Birthday Public Holiday Hours
MUSAC will be closed on Monday 8 June 2026 for the King’s Birthday Public Holiday.
No programs or classes will operate on this day.
The centre will reopen and return to normal operating hours from 5:30am on Tuesday 9 June 2026.
We wish all members a safe and enjoyable long weekend.
Your Group Fitness Timetable Just Got Better
Recently, we asked for your feedback through our Group Fitness Survey, and the response was incredible. More than 500 members took the time to share what they love, what they’d like to see more of, and how we can continue improving the timetable experience.
We’ve been listening.
Over the coming weeks, you’ll start to see a range of updates across the timetable designed to make classes easier to navigate, more flexible, and even more enjoyable to attend.
Some of the changes include:
- Clearer and simpler class descriptions
- Additional mind-body offerings
- New instructors joining the timetable
- Trialling new class times to better suit busy schedules
- The introduction of BODYPUMP HEAVY™, a new strength-focused class designed for those wanting to build confidence lifting heavier weights
This is just the beginning, with even more exciting additions still to come.
Check out the updated timetable and try something new this week. Book your class here.

Bring a Friend for Free Returns This June
Bring a Friend for Free is returning to MUSAC this June.
Throughout the month, active members will once again have the opportunity to bring friends along to train, swim and experience the centre together at no cost.
Whether it’s introducing someone to the gym for the first time, bringing a training partner to a group fitness class, or showing off your favourite part of the centre, it’s the perfect opportunity to share the MUSAC experience.
More information, including how to register your friend, will be sent out closer to launch.
Swim to Win Returns
By popular demand, Swim to Win is making a return this June for all Learn to Swim participants.
Every swim lesson attended gives students the chance to collect stamps and go into the draw to win prizes, and this year’s competition is set to be bigger and better than ever before.
More details, including prizes and how the competition works, will be sent out via email soon, so keep an eye on your inbox.
Your Feedback is Helping Shape the Centre
Earlier this year, many members shared feedback regarding the table tennis table storage setup in the Level 0 corridor between the lift and stairs.
We’re pleased to let you know that a permanent storage solution has now been implemented, with the tables removed from the corridor to create a more open and accessible space.
In addition, several banks of unused lockers will also be removed in the coming weeks to further improve the area.
Now, we’d love your input on what comes next.
Some ideas already suggested by members include:
- Keeping the space open and clear
- Lounge seating and coffee tables
- A quiet or sensory space
- Vending machines
- Study desks and computers available for students to use
These are just starting points, and we’d love to hear what you would find most valuable.
Have your say and help shape the future of the space.
Building More Inclusive Sporting Spaces
Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre is proud to support the release of Campus Life’s updated LGBTQ+ Sport Inclusion Policy.
As the primary sport delivery provider on campus, MUSAC remains committed to ensuring all members of our community feel safe, welcome and supported across every part of the centre.
The updated policy strengthens guidance around creating inclusive environments for people of all sexualities and genders, while reinforcing Campus Life’s zero-tolerance approach to homophobia, biphobia and transphobia.
At MUSAC, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to move, play and belong.
