No Towel, No Train Policy
Dear Members and Patrons,
We hope you are enjoying your time at Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC) to date. We value having you as a part of the MUSAC community.
As a member, you will be aware that the Health Club – and Health and Fitness Industry – has a No Towel, No Train Policy – which is a part of our commitment to providing facilities that are clean, safe and comfortable for everyone.
Recently, we have received several complaints from members about towel usage and general Health Club etiquette that has facilitated a review of our policy and member conduct.
After reviewing this feedback, MUSAC has made the decision to commit to enforcing mandatory towel usage in the Health Club from Monday 21st July 2025.
What does this mean for you?
From Monday 21st July 2025, the No Towel, No Train Policy will be strictly enforced.
Use of a towel will be required to utilize the Health Club equipment. Anyone without a towel will be asked to leave the Health Club, to either purchase a towel from the Customer Service Desk or required to exit the centre to get a towel.
While we understand that this may seem abrupt, and sometimes it’s easy to forget your towel, the policy exists to:
- Keep equipment clean and sweat-free for the next user
- Maintains hygiene standards across the Health Club
- Shows respect for your fellow members and our shared space
For these reasons we will be providing a grace period in the lead up to Monday 21st July 2025 to acquaint members and guests with these new standards.
You should expect to see our staff roaming and applying the No Towel, No Train Policy, along with increased signage and awareness around Health Club etiquette.
We trust all members will understand why we are strictly enforcing the policy and appreciate it is not only in their own interest, but in the interests of all members.
If a staff member identifies that you do not have a towel with you, we ask that you please show them respect and courtesy and comply with the policy - they are simply doing their job.
Thank you for helping us create a positive and respectful environment for all.

Yours in health and fitness,
