Working as a Learn to Swim Instructor is a great way to get active, help others and enjoy a good work-study-life balance.

Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC) has identified an opportunity to provide vocational training qualifications that support potential casual employment opportunities for students whilst studying at Macquarie University

A limited number of placements on the Swim Teacher course will be offered to eligible students who want to understand how to engage and interact directly with a diverse range of children and students in a way that makes a positive impact in the lives of others

Swim Teacher (RLSA)

The Royal Life Saving Swim Teacher course provides candidates with skills and knowledge to effectively and safely teach swimming and water safety skills to school aged children.

This course will focus on setting you up for success when teaching swimming and water safety skills, preparing for lessons, instructing children effectively, as well as providing specific tips for teaching skills, correcting faults and looking for continuous improvement opportunities.

Eligibility

  • Domestic students (Please Note: Royal Life Saving Society NSW is not a CRICOS provider; it is unable to provide national training to overseas students holding a student visa.)
  • Available to complete minimum 20hrs of training hours at MUSAC
  • Hold or able to obtain a Working with Children Check

You will be required to complete the Royal Life Saving Society course enrolment form and submit a short video of yourself (<45 seconds) by 6 May 2022 outlining why you want to complete the course and how this will enhance your student experience whilst studying at Macquarie University.

Completion of training courses should not be interpreted as a guarantee of future employment at Campus Life. It is intended that further vocational training opportunities will be provide in 2022.
