Supporting student-athletes studying at Macquarie University

The Sports Scholarship and Elite Athlete Performers scheme is focused on assisting athletes in their desire to combine high-performance sports involvement with tertiary education.

Macquarie University Sport Scholars have access to high level support to assist them in achieving sporting and academic success during their time at university.

Please refer to the Elite Athletes and Artistic Performers (EAAP) scheme page for information on eligibility and how to apply.

If you are a student-athlete on campus and not currently a member of our Sports Scholarship program, email sportsscholars@mq.edu.au for an application form to join the program for the remainder of 2024.

In 2024, Macquarie University awarded Sports Scholarships to more than 170 students either entering or continuing a course at the University.

Our sports scholarships exhibit a diverse range of sports, including:

  • equestrian
  • boccia
  • martial arts
  • football (soccer and rugby)
  • sailing
  • wakeboarding
  • swimming
  • several full-time professional sports.

We understand the challenges students face in pursuing both academic and sporting goals simultaneously, and the Sports Scholarship program provides students with the tools and support services to balance success in both areas.

The EAAP scheme is designed for first-year applicants who believe their training or competitive commitments have affected their HSC or study preparation within the past two years. The Ranking Committee determines whether the applicant is eligible for additional points due to adjustment factors.
