Macquarie University Astronomy Open Night

Macquarie University will be using the MUSAC facilities to host activities as part of the Astronomy Open Night on Saturday, September 19, from 4pm–10pm.

To cater for the event, changes to the centre operations will occur on Saturday, September 19:

  • From 3pm, the lower section of Gymnasium Road, from Link Road towards MUSAC, will be closed. There will be no vehicle access to the MUSAC Kiss and Ride area, and we ask all patrons to park in the West 5 / West 6 car park and walk to MUSAC
  • The North 3 car park will close at 3:00pm
  • The 50m outdoor pool will close at 6:30pm
  • At 6:45pm, the lights at the 50m pool and in the North 3, West 5 and West 6 car parks will be turned off to support telescope use and night sky observations during the event.

Gymnasium Road is expected to reopen at 11pm, with normal access and MUSAC operations resuming at 6am on Sunday, September 20.

While we anticipate some impacts to members and guests, traffic management will be in place from 3pm to support safe access and help minimise disruption. Members visiting MUSAC that afternoon or evening are encouraged to allow a little additional travel time.

September School Holiday Programs

Bookings are now open for our 2026 Learn to Swim, Squads and Gymnastics September School Holiday Programs.

Places are limited, so we encourage families to book early to avoid missing out.

Week 1: Monday 28 September–Friday 2 October
Week 2: Tuesday 6 October–Friday 9 October

Labour Day Public Holiday

MUSAC will be closed on Monday 5 October for the Labour Day public holiday.

The centre will reopen at 5.30am on Tuesday 6 October, with regularly scheduled classes and programs resuming.

Remember to Dry Off

Please remember to dry off thoroughly before leaving the pool area and entering the centre.

This helps keep the space safe and comfortable for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation.

MUSAC Swim School Recognised Among Australia’s Best

MUSAC Swim School has received state and national recognition at the 2026 Australian Swim Schools Association Awards of Excellence.

The awards recognise the quality of our programs, our commitment to inclusion and our work to help children develop essential swimming and water safety skills.

Australia’s Inclusive Swim School of the Year

MUSAC was named the national winner of the Inclusive Swim School Award for our commitment to making swimming accessible to all children and families.

Whether a child is developing confidence in the water, requires additional support or is progressing through our Learn to Swim pathway, we aim to provide an environment where every swimmer can participate and succeed.

NSW Employer of Choice

MUSAC also received the NSW Employer of Choice Award. Our investment in staff training and professional development helps ensure children learn from skilled, passionate and dedicated instructors, supervisors and support staff.

NSW Water Safety Champion

Aquatic Programs Manager Sunny Fung was named the NSW Water Safety Champion for his commitment to improving water safety education and awareness within the community.

Further Recognition for MUSAC

Learn to Swim Coordinator Nicholas Luca-Hancock received a Highly Commended award in the Emerging Talent category for his dedication to supporting swimmers and families.

MUSAC was also Highly Commended for Swim School of the Year, recognising the quality of our programs, positive student outcomes and the collective work of our team.

Thank you to our swim school families for your continued trust and support. We look forward to helping more children build confidence, develop life-saving water safety skills and enjoy a lifelong love of swimming.

Team Gym Athletes Shine at Northern Region Trial

Our Team Gym athletes delivered an outstanding performance at Northern Region Trial 2, their second competition of the year.

The results reflected the hard work, determination and team spirit shown by every gymnast.

Social Sport Season Wrap-Up

The 2026 Winter Social Sport Competition concluded after another successful season of competition, teamwork and community spirit.

Our Semester 2 competition is also off to a strong start, with 104 teams registered across seven competitions. We wish every team the best for the remainder of the season.

Registrations for our next Social Sport competition will open soon. Whether you’re returning with your team or joining for the first time, keep an eye out for further details in the coming weeks.

Colour the Campus 2026

More than 800 people took part in Macquarie University and Campus Life’s annual Colour the Campus fun run on Thursday 27 August.

Held in celebration of Wear It Purple Day, the event brought the campus community together to support LGBTQ+ young people and promote inclusion and acceptance.

Thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered or helped create such a vibrant atmosphere across campus.

Pride in Sport Survey

As a Platinum Member of Pride in Sport Australia, Macquarie University Sport is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for everyone, including members of the LGBTQ+ community.
