Fun activities during the school holidays
Macquarie University offers school holiday swimming and gymnastic programs for children and adults – everyone is welcome!
Bookings will be made available from 2 December 2024.
All bookings are subject to the Holiday Programs Terms and Conditions.
Gymnastics will offer a variety of gymnastics-specific workshops and other fun activities designed to teach participants technical gymnastics skills and to ensure they have lots of fun with friends along the way. Classes will be available to book for both weeks of the School Holidays.
Parents and guardians must accompany their child(ren) to and from the Gymnastics Hall and through the Centre, but are not required to stay for the duration of the program.
Gymnastics participants are encouraged to bring food for 30-minute lunch break during each session.
Note: The Gymnastics Hall is a nut free zone.

All half day and full day programs have a capacity of 30.
Evening sessions have a capacity of 24.
Program details
All programs are designed for ages 5–15, unless otherwise stated.
No previous experience is required for any day. Activities cater for all gymnasts, from beginner to advanced levels.

Advanced/senior gymnastics Duration: 2 hours | Similar to Senior Rec, allows advanced gymnasts or new gymnasts aged 12–16 years to learn on all apparatus.

Bars, beam, floor and tramp Duration: 4 hours | This program will allow gymnasts to partake in activities on each apparatus. We will teach participants the required basic skills on each piece of equipment and provide challenges to allow for development. |
Ninja course and games Duration: 4 hours | Consisting of a giant circuit around the gymnastics hall as well as gymnastics style games. Gymnasts will be challenged to complete the course as fast as they can in time trials. |
Parkour/FreeG Duration: 4 hours | This program will allow gymnasts to learn and develop their FreeG style skills, including parkour, gymnastics and martial arts elements. |
Tumbling and acro Duration: 4 hours | This program will focus on tumbling and acro specific elements and apparatus, eg floor, air track, vault and tumble track. |
Vault, bars, beam, floor and tramp Duration: 7.5 hours | This day will allow children to explore and develop all the artistic gymnastics apparatus as well as acrobatic and tumbling skills. |
Learn to Swim holiday classes are run as 20-minute one-on-one classes and are adapted to the participant’s needs.
Classes are available to students aged three years old through to adults. Learn to Swim holiday program is designed for beginners to stroke correction. This program is not suited for Squad students.
Students must book in and pay for the whole week. They cannot book in for part of the week or individual days. Classes will be available to book for Week 1 of the School Holidays.

Parents and guardians must accompany their child(ren) to and from the 25m Pool and through the Centre, and are required to stay for the duration of the program as per the Keep Watch Policy.
Holiday program options include Race Camps and Intensive Stroke Clinics. Both will be conducted in the outdoor 50m pool.
To participate in these programs, all participants will be required to bring:
- goggles
- a swimming cap.
Anyone who does not have these will be required to purchase them at reception.
These programs are open to both internal and external participants.
- Internal participants (ie those who are a current enrolee of the MQU LTS or Squad Program) must be in a Seal level (LTS Program) or higher.
- External participants (ie those not currently enrolled in the MQU LTS or Squad Program) must book in and attend a squad assessment before enrolling in the Race Camp.

Race Camp
There will be two Race Camp classes available:
- Squad Race Camp (Mini Squad level or higher)
- Stroke Development Race Camp (Seal, Orca, Dolphin, Teen Intermediate, Teen Advanced – ie Stroke Development levels of LTS only).
Participants must:
- be able to swim at least 25m of Freestyle and Backstroke
- not have a fear of deep water.
The Race Camp will teach the following skills:
- diving from blocks
- turns: touch and tumble
- finishing skills for all four strokes
- sprinting all four strokes.

Intensive Stroke Clinics
The Intensive Stroke Clinics are training sessions tailored to each squad level. They will teach the following skills:
