Easing of COVID Restrictions

In response to the latest Public Health Orders, from Friday 25 February 2022 masks will no longer be required inside Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC).

However, masks will remain optional for those who prefer to continue wearing them and is encouraged for use in indoor settings where physical distancing (1.5m) cannot be maintained.

In line with the easing of restrictions you will have noticed we have removed the requirement for members to sign in via the Service NSW QR Code prior to entry and increased the studio capacity for some of our Group Fitness classes.

At MUSAC we put the health, safety, and well-being of our members first and remain committed to providing an environment where you can train with confidence.

As attendance begins to increase around the centre, we will continue to emphasize the need for good hygiene and demonstrating ongoing respect for the health of those around us.

We encourage the members and patrons to maintain the habit of making frequent use of hand sanitizers, which will remain available throughout the centre and continue with our regular COVIDSafe cleaning procedures, so you can continue to visit us with confidence!

New Equipment 'How To' Videos

We hope that members and patrons have been enjoying the brand-new smart-technology equipment within our Health Club.

We chose to make this investment as a part of our members-first approach to operations, with the latest addition of new equipment, the sled track in the Functional Training Zone, being installed within the last month.

While some may be familiar with the new equipment, we understand and acknowledge that for others it may not be so straight forward.

Across our Facebook and Instagram channels we have been sharing ‘How to’ and informational videos and posts about how to use and interact with our new equipment – check them out!

And if that’s not enough, there’s always our on-shift Health and Fitness Instructors, who are available to help you with any questions or queries you may have, as well as exercise and equipment demonstrations.

Refer-a-Friend

It’s been exciting to see and welcome so many new members to MUSAC over the past month as well as many former members coming back and recommitting to their health and fitness goals with us!

We know you’ve been enjoying the new equipment and your new workout regime in the Health Club, but now you can make them even more effective, and save money by referring a friend to join on membership!

Refer-a-friend to join on Health Club membership and receive two-weeks free!

Simply accompany your referral to the Customer Service desk of the centre, share your details with staff and receive two-weeks free for each member you refer! As they say, friends who sweat together, stay together.

Mardi Gras

Sydney's Mardi Gras festival is fast approaching, in a dazzling display of pride, self-expression and championing the LGBTIQ+ community in a show of passion and advocating for equal rights.

The theme for 2022 is UNITED WE SHINE signifying that when we band together, we shine brighter. It is a rallying call to stand up against hate and inequality, reminding us that when we rise as a collective, our message of love and inclusion is heard louder.

At MUSAC we are committed to providing a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for all people, including those of diverse sexualities and genders. As the primary sport delivery agent on campus, being inclusive within our sport and recreation services, facilities, programs and operations not only reflects our core values, it also reflects the diversity of our students, staff and local community

To our members and friends, we wish you a very happy and safe 2022 Mardi Gras Festival.

RIDBC - Hoarding and traffic on Gymnasium Road

Members will have noticed over the previous weeks the hoarding which has been erected on the corner of Gymnasium Road and Link Road, adjacent MUSAC and the N3 car park.

Construction has now begun on the new Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC, now known as NextSense) headquarters, which will be based next to MUSAC, as a part of a partnership agreement between RIDBC and Macquarie University.

Construction on the site is forecast to run through until June 2023 and is not expected to affect members accessing MUSAC to and from the West 5, West 6 and North 3 car parks.

As always, if you have any feedback for us, we would love to receive it – the good, the bad and the ugly. If you have a submission you’d like to make about how we can improve our facility or our services, feel free to share via the online enquiry form.

Yours in health and fitness,

Christian Renford
