Session | Description |
|---|---|
Basketball | Basketball is a game played between two teams of five players in which points are scored by throwing a ball through a netted hoop fixed at each end of the court. Basketball competitions are hosted in the Sport Hall of MUSAC.. |
Football (6-a-side) | 6-a-side is a modified form of soccer/football played with six players per side on a smaller, typically outdoor pitch. 6-a-side competitions are hosted at the Macquarie University Sport Fields. |
Netball | Netball is a game played between two teams of five players in which points are scored by throwing a ball through a netted hoop fixed at each end of the court. Netball competitions are hosted in the Sport Hall of MUSAC. |
Touch football | Touch football is a variant of rugby league with a variation of defenders making a touch, instead of a tackle, to constitute a play. The aim of the game is to place the football, in a controlled manner, over the opponent's goal line within the six-plays provided to the attacking team. Failure to score or to control the ball results in a turnover of possession. |
Volleyball | Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separate by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. To score points, the serving team attempts to hit the ball over the net and into the floor of their opponents space, while the receiving team attempts to prevent the ball from being grounded within their court. Volleyball competitions are hosted in the Recreational Hall of MUSAC. |
Macquarie University Sport social sport competitions are open to everyone (16 years and over). We welcome the general community, corporate teams as well as Macquarie students and staff.

If severe or unexpected weather occurs after the 2pm update, we reassess conditions as needed and communicate any new decisions directly to team captains.
How we communicate with teams
- Before 5pm, team captains will be notified via email of any late changes or cancellations.
- After 5pm, team captains will be contacted via phone.
- During play (mid‑round weather events)
- If inclement weather begins while games are in progress, the Duty Manager (DM) has the final authority to cancel or suspend games.
- If a decision is made during play, captains will receive a phone call to ensure quick and clear communication.
Team captain responsibilities
- Captains must pass on all updates to their players.
- Players should not assume a game is cancelled unless informed through official communication channels or by their captain.
Important notes for players
- Do not assume games are cancelled based on weather conditions alone.
- We will make every effort to reschedule weather-related fixtures at a postponed date.
