Weekly social sport sessions available to all

Social sport sessions are non-competitive alternative for players who can't commit to weekly competitions, and are open to both members and casual users.

Our social sessions are designed for players of all skill levels and competency. A Macquarie University Sport representative will match you up with others of similar ability when you arrive.

Gold members are entitled to attend one (1) free session per day.

Additional sessions per day are available at a cost for all members. Please check our fees and charges for more information.

Non-members must pay a nominated fee per social session they wish to participate in. Please check our fees and charges for more information.

Bookings

Players are required to book into social sessions at the customer service desk of the Centre. Ticket collection is available 30 minutes before the beginning of each session.

Day and time

Badminton: a game played with rackets in which a shuttlecock is hit back and forth across a net. Similar to tennis, it can be played in singles (one-on-one) or doubles (two-on-two)

Thursday:
6pm – 10pm

Saturday:
9am - 12pm

Sunday:
2:15pm – 7pm

Basketball: a game played between two teams of five players in which points are scored by throwing a ball through a netted hoop fixed at each end of the court.

Etiquette

Participants are reminded:

  • To arrive at least five minutes prior to the starting time to register and collect their participation ticket from the front desk.
  • Please bring your own equipment if possible. Equipment hire is available from the front desk for a fee.
  • Badminton players are required to bring their own shuttlecocks.

  • Any patron wishing to participate must be aware of the applicable policies.

All outdoor sports are located at the Macquarie University Sport Fields. Indoor sports are located at the Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre.

Prior to the session

All participants are required to sign in with the on-site casual sport administrator before their scheduled social sport session.
