Swim Coaches and Teachers Australia Awards
Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre recently won the Best Swim School - Marketing, Promotion, and Customer Service award at the Swim Coaches & Teachers Australia (SCTA) 2024 Annual Conference. This award highlights the centre’s exceptional efforts in promoting and delivering top-quality swim programs.
Our Aquatic Programs Manager, Sunny Fung, expressed pride in the dedicated swim school team, attributing the achievement to their hard work and commitment to excellence in swim education and customer service.
Additionally, the swim school was recognised as a national finalist for Outstanding Community Services and Innovation/Team & Staff Development, underscoring its commitment to community engagement and continuous improvement.
With summer approaching, it’s the perfect time to enrol in our Learn to Swim program. We offer a comprehensive program for all ages and skill levels, aligning with SCTA’s vision to inspire lifelong swimmers. Our focus extends beyond swimming skills to promoting water safety, health, and well-being.
Research from Royal Life Saving shows that nearly half of 12-year-olds struggle with basic swimming and water safety skills. Our swim school aims to reverse this trend by advocating for drowning prevention and community education on water safety.
Enrol your child in our swim lessons to invest in their future health, safety, and well-being. For more information, please visit our website.
Reduced Group Fitness Timetable
Please be aware that our Group Fitness Timetable will be reduced from December until the new year. We encourage all members to refer to the group fitness timetable available on our website for the latest class schedules and updates.
Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you in class.

Programs End of Year Reminder
A reminder for all participants enrolled in Learn to Swim, Gymnastics, and Squads: the final day of the current term will be Sunday December 15th.
Please note, replacement sessions from prior to June 11th will still expire at the end of the program year on December 15th. With the introduction of the new 30-day expiry, classes marked absent in November and December will expire 30 days after the class marked absent, rather than at the end of the year.
Make sure to use your eligible replacement sessions before they expire.
We appreciate your participation this year. Programs will resume on Monday January 20th, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the new year.

End of Year BBQ Recap
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our End of Year BBQ on October 23rd! The event was a great success with delicious sausages sizzling on the BBQ, cold drinks in hand, and lively music. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces come together to celebrate the year.
We appreciate your support throughout the year and look forward to more exciting times ahead in the new year!

Body Combat 100 Recap
On September 26th, MUSAC celebrated the much-anticipated launch of Body Combat 100 with an incredible event that filled our Sports Hall. A dynamic team of nine group fitness instructors led 100 enthusiastic combatants through a special two-hour session.
The event kicked off with an inspiring introduction by our DEIB lead, Luke Heckendorf, who emphasized the importance of mental health awareness. He spoke passionately about how exercise, particularly group fitness, can be a powerful tool in overcoming daily struggles and promoting mental well-being.
There was a mix of classic Body Combat bangers and fresh choreography debuting in Body Combat 100 so something for everyone!
A big thank you to everyone involved.
Child Supervision Reminder
To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, we would like to remind all patrons of our Child Safe Policy. This isn’t a new policy but a reiteration of one that’s been in place to help us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all.
For the safety of young participants, children up to the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at the centre at all times—not just at drop-off or pick-up, but throughout their entire visit. This guideline is especially important for those in our Learn to Swim program, where supervision is essential.
Although this is a centre wide policy, we do however have tailored guidelines for Gymnastics and Squads:
Gymnastics:
- Children under 7 require a responsible adult to stay in the Gymnastics area for the entire class.
- Children aged 7-12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult to and from the Gymnastics Hall, though they may stay unaccompanied during class.
- Children over 12 may enter the Centre during session time unaccompanied.
- No access to Health Club, Studios, Pools or Courts.
Squads:
- All squad participants are able to enter the pool area unaccompanied during squad training times only. A responsible adult must be present outside of these times in line with centre T&C's.
- Restricted entry to the Health Club only during authorised dry supervised training sessions.
- Squad participants should not stay in the centre before or after their class unless a responsible adult is with them.
- No access to Courts, Studios or Gymnastics Hall.
This policy is in place for the safety and well-being of all children in our centre. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in helping us maintain a safe and supportive environment for everyone.
As always, if you have any feedback for us, we would love to receive it – the good, the bad and the ugly. If you have a submission, you’d like to make about how we can improve our facility or our services, feel free to share via our Digital Feedback Form.
Yours in health and fitness,
Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre Team
