Labour Day Public Holiday
A friendly reminder to members and patrons that MUSAC will be closed on the Labour Day Public Holiday, falling on Monday, 6th October 2025.
The centre will re-open Tuesday, 7th October at 5:30am with regular scheduled classes and programs returning.
Double Refer a Friend Rewards this September
This September, we’re doubling the rewards for our Refer a Friend program. Normally, when your friend joins and completes two direct debits, you receive two weeks free membership. But until the end of September, you’ll enjoy four weeks free instead!
It’s the perfect time to bring a mate along to train, swim, or play — and you’ll both enjoy the benefits of being part of our community.
To activate your reward, just come to the front desk with your friend on their first visit so we can capture both your details. Once they’ve settled in and completed two debits, your four free weeks will be added to your membership.
Don’t miss out — the offer ends 30 September.
Pickleball is here at MUSAC
We’re excited to announce that Pickleball is now available for everyone to enjoy.
The fast-growing sport is perfect for getting active, having fun with friends, and trying something new.
Gold members can play as an inclusion in their membership; you can book your session the same way you would for badminton or basketball and you’re good to go.
If you’re not a Gold member, no worries, you can still join in! Casual hire fees apply, so you can grab some friends and enjoy the game anytime.
Quarter 3 Members Competition
It’s that time again!
Quarter 3 is coming to an end, but you still have time to get your visits up before the end of September. To be entered into the draw to win some exciting prizes, visit the centre at least 12 times between 1st July and 30th September 2025.
It’s our way of celebrating you for prioritizing your health and fitness, all year round.
Here are our previous winners Caitlyn and Meg with their prizes from Quarter 2.
Best of luck to everyone.

Making a Splash for World Drowning Prevention Day
In August, our Swim School teamed up with U@MQ Early Learning to celebrate World Drowning Prevention Day in the best way possible — by giving little ones the chance to build confidence and learn life-saving water skills.
Thirty children aged 6 months to 5 years, many of whom had never taken swimming lessons before, received four free lessons across the month. The goal? To introduce water safety in a fun, supportive environment — and the results spoke for themselves:
- Families showed up week after week, with fantastic attendance.
- Kids grew more confident in the water and picked up new skills.
- Parents gave glowing feedback, with many keen to keep the lessons going.
- Most importantly, more families are now aware of the importance of learning to swim early.
One parent summed it up perfectly:
“Our child went from being afraid of water to looking forward to every lesson. It’s made a huge difference.”
Programs like this highlight the importance of starting swimming education early. Children under five remain one of the most at-risk groups for drowning in Australia, and research continues to show how many school-age children still lack essential swimming skills. By giving kids the chance to feel safe and confident in the water from the very beginning, we’re helping to make a real difference.
Our Swim School runs lessons year-round for all ages and abilities, with a focus on safety, confidence and fun. If you’d like to get your child started, you can find out more here or contact us at swimschool@mq.edu.au.
Every lesson is a step towards safer, happier swimmers.
Macquarie University Astronomy Night
Macquarie University will be using the MUSAC facilities to host their Astronomy Night on Saturday, September 27th from 5pm-10 pm
To cater for this event, on the 27th the 50m outdoor pool will be closing 15 minutes early at 6:30pm and the lights in the 50m pool and North 3, West 5 and West 6 Car Park will be turned off at 6:45pm.
On Thursday 28 August, we joined Macquarie University and Campus Life’s annual Colour the Campus fun run to celebrate Wear It Purple Day, a day dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ youth and promoting inclusivity and acceptance.
The event saw 240 participants take part and was supported by over 30 volunteers, creating a vibrant and fun-filled atmosphere across campus.
It was fantastic to see so many people out on the course enjoying the event and showing their support for such a great cause. Thank you to all those that helped make the day so special.
If you missed Colour the Campus and still want to show your support for Wear It Purple, there’s still time to donate to Wear It Purple here
As always, if you have any feedback for us, we would love to receive it – the good, the bad and the ugly.
If you have a submission you’d like to make about how we can improve our facility or our services, feel free to share via the online feedback form.
And don’t forget to follow us on Instagram and Facebook for updates.
Yours in health and fitness,
